ATB Riva Calzoni is pleased to welcome a delegation from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (#USACE) and our client #MarineDivineSolutions to its headquarter and workshops for the #Soo Gate Project in #SaultSaintMarie, #Michigan (#USA).
The visit was a great opportunity to present the #fabrication progress and the #know-how in #HydromechanicalEquipment. The scope for this project includes workshop drawings, fabrication, and delivery of #Mitergates approx. 16 x 11 meters.

Oggi abbiamo avuto il piacere di ospitare un gruppo di 27 studenti della facoltà
di Ingegneria Nucleare del Politecnico di Milano. Il nostro Nuclear Product
Development Manager Federico Maggioni, supportato dal Sales Manager Matteo
Gamba, ha raccontato il percorso di ATB Riva Calzoni cominciato negli anni 70
durante lo sviluppo del programma Nucleare Italiano fino ai giorni nostri
attraverso le esperienze maturate nell’ambito della #fusione e della #fissione,
nonché nella costruzione di contenitori di nuova generazione ad alto contenuto
tecnologico per trasporto e stoccaggio del #combustibile irraggiato.
Il nostro HR Manager Simone Bernardi ha poi evidenziato quali opportunità
professionali possa offrire una realtà manifatturiera come ATB e quanto
l’azienda creda fortemente nell’inserimento di giovani neolaureati.
Il gruppo è stato poi guidato all’interno della nostra fabbrica per vedere da
vicino i processi produttivi in particolare la #saldatura e le lavorazioni
meccaniche, mostrando i componenti attualmente in costruzione e rispondendo
infine alle curiosità degli studenti.
E’ stato per noi un piacere condividere questa giornata insieme e ci auguriamo
di aver offerto degli spunti interessanti e di aver trasmesso almeno una piccola
parte della passione per il nostro mestiere.

ATB Riva Calzoni is pleased to share the successful delivery of No. 2 huge
reactors destined to Louisiana (USA), which have just left the Marghera seaport
a few days ago.
This job represents one of the heaviest supply ever performed by ATB in its
entire history, with 1.350 tons/unit fabrication weight, 247 mm wall thickness,
5.494 mm internal diameter and 43,5 meters overall length.
The project, commissioned by our esteemed customer, consists of the #design and
#fabrication of two #reactors, made of low alloy #Vanadium modified steel with
internal SS347 weld overlay, for a U.S. refinery.
ATB Riva Calzoni would like to express its gratitude to all the personnel
involved in such a brilliant performance and to our client, whose cooperation
has been highly appreciated throughout the overall 22 months of project
execution.

elevata precisione e capacità artigianali per fornire componenti meccanici che
soddisfino tolleranze molto stringenti.
ATB, negli ultimi anni, ha ristrutturato il suo reparto di lavorazioni
meccaniche che ricopre un’area di 3500 mq ed è oggi dotato di tre fresatrici e
due torni verticali in grado di gestire componenti pesanti e di grandi
dimensioni.
Nelle immagini, il nostro tornio verticale INNSE al lavoro sulla sezione esterna
del basamento del #criostato realizzata in acciaio inossidabile 316/316L dal
peso di 20 tonnellate.

involves doubling the #gates for the second outlet of the #SanValentino #dam,
located in #Bolzano, #Italy.
#ATBRivaCalzoni ’s scope of work includes a #turnkey #supply of the wheel
#gates. The #Civilworks has been performed by #Semat, part of #ATBGroup
To protect the plant and enable #gate operation under harsh weather conditions,
an anti-icing system has been implemented.

ATB Riva Calzoni attended the “EDF European Nuclear Suppliers Days” on 04th
and 5th of June at the charming Salle Gaveau in Paris. Main outcome of the
conference is the urgent need of increasing nuclear reactors EPR2 production,
reaching a target of twice per year while waiting for the next generation of
SMRs and AMRs.
Our Nuclear industry needs an European #SupplyChain capable to keep the pace,
this was the fil rouge of the conference. Developing capacity and #skills will
be the challenge of the nearby future.

On 29th - 30th May 2024 ATB Riva Calzoni joined the 1st General Assembly of
the European Industrial Alliance on Small Modular Reactors organized by European
Commission, nucleareurope and SNETP.
A Strategic Action Plan has been set during the event to allow a prompt start of
the operation of the Alliance. We look forward to join one of the Working Groups
and to provide our contribution to SMRs and AMRs development.

April 28th 2024. ATB was invited to the conference “The Role of Nuclear in
the Energy Transition: A Conversation on the Sidelines of the G7 Energy
Ministerial” organized by Atlantic Council, ISPI - Istituto per gli Studi di
Politica Internazionale and Newcleo in Turin.
We were very pleased and excited by the opportunity to attend some inspiring
speeches and witness strategic milestones achieved during the event:
- Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security Pichetto Fratin announced
its ministry would join the European Alliance for Small Modular Reactors.
- The signature of a joint declaration by the nuclear industry associations of
the G7 countries supporting nuclear deployment as a strategic priority in the
nearby future.

Beaumont Monteux hydropower project successfully completed.
Spillway gates replacement Works, performed for EDF (Électricité de France), are
completed on Beaumont Monteux hydropower project, 42MW, in France.
The supply for this challenging project, considered as an industrial hydropower
heritage, included six Stoney Gates maintaining the original design.
The gates, with a dimension of 18.75 m x 9.3 m (w x h) and surmounted by a flap
gate 16 m x 2 m (w x h), are fully equipped with operation equipment. The gates
installation, carried out by the JV partner Ponticelli Frères, has been
performed one by one in order to avoid the stoppage of the hydropower plant.
This milestone is a tangible testament that our commitment to deliver excellence
and innovation makes the difference.

ATB Riva Calzoni is really honoured to have hosted today in our Nuclear
Workshop the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) delegation represented by its
President Mr. Koguchi Masanori and partnered by Mr. Frederic De Agostini CEO of
Orano.
JAEA team had the opportunity to see the status of No. 6 spent fuel
transportation casks currently under fabrication in ATB Roncadelle (BS)
workshop.
These casks, commissioned by JAEA, are part of a strategic contract between ATB
and our client ORANO NPS and will be delivered to Japan in the incoming months.

Another major achievement for ATB Riva Calzoni: this stunning 1500 ton
Hydrocracking Reactor, fabricated and successfully delivered from our Marghera
Workshop last July, recently reached ORLEN Lietuva Mažeikiai Refinery in
Lithuania after a long trip.
Licensed by Honeywell UOP, this huge piece of equipment made of forged Vanadium
modified steel with dimensions of 52 m in length, 4.5 m of internal diameter and
276 mm of thickness will be installed in the new Residue Hydrocracking Unit
(RHCU) currently under construction.
ATB once again confirms its leadership in providing critical high pressure
equipment required by deep crude conversion process technologies which aim to
increase refineries production yields while reducing crude oil consumptions and
#carbonfootprint.
