On November 21, 2023, the civil engineering team of the Nachtigal hydropower project reached a major milestone with the installation of the 181st and final ring, marking the completion of the seven penstocks (5.6 m in diameter).
Assembly operations, which began in November 2021, have now officially concluded. Nachtigal will be Cameroon’s largest dam, injecting more than 420 MW of electricity into the national grid.
The work was carried out by ATB RIVA Calzoni, responsible for fabrication and assembly. The pipes were manufactured on-site within a fully equipped temporary workshop—an approach that optimized logistics and leveraged local expertise.
