SIMIC and ATB are proud to announce that they have been awarded a contract for the manufacturing of key components for an ASME Section III containment vessel for a major nuclear programme, the details of which remain confidential in accordance with contractual obligations.
This milestone marks the successful conclusion of a journey that began with feasibility study contracts awarded to ATB and subsequently developed into a joint engineering, qualification and industrial development programme involving ATB, SIMIC and our customer. Through close cooperation, mutual trust and a shared commitment to technical excellence, a challenging industrial vision has now become a reality.
Manufacturing activities will commence at ATB's facilities in Roncadelle (BS), where the initial fabrication of the components will be carried out before the assemblies are transferred to SIMIC's waterfront manufacturing facilities in Porto Marghera (Venice), where the welding, integration and final assembly of these large-scale structures will be performed, leveraging direct sea access for the handling, transportation and shipment of oversized components.
This project represents an important milestone for the Italian nuclear manufacturing industry, bringing together the complementary capabilities of SIMIC and ATB in engineering, manufacturing and industrial execution. It reflects the continued investment of both companies in strengthening Italy's nuclear manufacturing capabilities and supporting Europe's next generation of nuclear energy projects. By combining their expertise, SIMIC and ATB will contribute to the delivery of one of the most technically demanding components required for a major nuclear programme, further demonstrating the capability of the Italian industrial supply chain to support advanced nuclear projects.
