GIBE 2 Hydroelectric Project 420 MW
The Gilgel Gibe 2 project includes a hydropower station located 80 km east of Jimma on the Omo River in Ethiopia.
The hydropower station receives water from a 26-km-long tunnel on the Gilgel Gibe River and a penstock under 500 m of water head. It has an installed capacity of 420 MW and was inaugurated in January 2010.
