After years of work the new Isola Serafini basin, in Monticelli d'Ongina, on the river Po, has started operating again. Spintore Cremona is the name of the first boat that crossed the canal, inaugurating the hydropower infrastructure that will allow the passage of boats up to the fifth category, up to a maximum of 110 meters and widths of 11.5.
For Serafini Island, managed by Aipo, the Interregional Po Agency, ATB Riva Calzoni produced the hydromechanical components - the two miter gates, 20 meters long and 8 wide, 80 tons, fitted in April 2017, and the two smaller ones installed in September 2016 – and it designed and implemented the control management system of the plant.
"Working for such an important work was a very demanding and exciting challenge - explained Giuliano Garavelli, PM of the Isola Serafini project for ATB Riva Calzoni -. We are very satisfied with the result achieved, in terms of quality and safety, which, moreover, has fully met the customer's expectations ".
The official opening is schedule for next spring, while until the end of the year we will proceed with the technical tests.
